Boomerang for Gmail: Some scheduled messages were delayed

Posted By on Jan 21, 2011

If you scheduled messages to be sent last night, some of them may not have been delivered until this morning. You may have also gotten erroneous Failed Send Message notifications for your scheduled messages (you can look in your Sent Mail folder to see if the messages were actually sent).

We’re sorry that this happened, and we apologize for any problems this caused.

What’s going on is that we’ve seen a lot of growth in the number of messages scheduled per user over the past few weeks, and as a result, we’ve outgrown our server capacity. Our maintenance scheduled for tonight is supposed to resolve that problem, but it’s happening a day too late.

We’ll do our best to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Thank you for understanding.

  1. Does this imply that Boomerang for Outlook does not work LOCALLY but instead, contacts a Baydin server remotely to schedule to message to reappear in my inbox.

If that is the case, I’ll unfortunately have to stop using Boomerang since this will be against my companys corporate policy to use software that leaks emails.

    Please let me know.

  2. Hi Tim,
No, the server downtime mentioned above affected Boomerang for Gmail, not Boomerang for Outlook. Boomerang for Outlook does not use Baydin servers to schedule your emails. Sorry for the confusion. I’ve edited the post to make it clearer. Thanks.
